About us

Restaurant and Lounge Faro Bar in Dramalj was born out of a love for food, the sea, relaxation, and socializing. It is a natural extension of our family’s passion for gastronomy, as our family’s story in hospitality has been ongoing for nearly half a century.

The Gajić family has been dedicated to hospitality since 1975, and the secret to our long-standing success lies in a deep love and passion for this profession, as well as for every guest. For us, the smiles and satisfaction of our guests are the greatest rewards. The foundation of our success is a family tradition that spans almost half a century, and this love for the job is passed down from generation to generation.

HALF A CENTURY

1975.
Tavern “Morski Vuk”

Desimir Gajić, along with his brother Dragan, opens the tavern “Morski Vuk” which, in its second year of running, wins the Arena magazine award for its coastal ambiance of a fishing tavern and authentic gastronomic offerings. The name “Morski Vuk” was inherited from Mr. Branko Pobor – Vuk.

1981.
Caffe bar “Kiss”

Recipient of numerous awards, including the Velika Večernjakova zvijezda twice, Novi List award for design and offerings, and in 1984, declared by T.S. Croatia and T.S. Yugoslavia as the best venue in the category of small hospitality establishments in Yugoslavia. Kiss was the first in the region to offer fruit and ice cream cups, frappes, and various cocktails, inspired by travels through Spain and France.

Our first sundaes were taught to us by our sister-in-law Ankica, who learned to make them in Switzerland. Our banana split was actually the first one we introduced to Croatia, then part of Yugoslavia. The establishment itself was designed by architect Branko Gajski and crafted in mahogany by local artisan Raša Jahić.

1986.
Restaurant “Parangal”

Winner of numerous awards, including the Velika Večernjakova zvijezda, Studio magazine award for design and quality, and Vikend magazine award as one of the most beautiful restaurants according to the jury and captains of ships sailing throughout the Adriatic Sea. It was a top-notch restaurant with a fountain in the center and a lobster pool. Designed by Zagreb architect Branko Gajski, with interiors crafted by local artisan Raša Jahić.

1991.
Caffe bar “Bonino”

Named after the previous owners of the Riviera Hotel, Vera and Giacomo Bonino, from whom it was purchased in 1986. It was one of the most beautiful cafes in the county, with stairs and a bar made of Italian granite “Rose porino” and entrance and showcases made of Slavonian oak and crystal glass, as well as the interior of the venue. Designed by architect from Zagreb, Mirko Magdić, with interiors crafted by local artisan Raša Jahić.

1995.
Disco klub “Taff”

A legendary club where the biggest names in Croatian popular music performed, such as Oliver, Gibonni, Dino Dvornik, Nina Badrić, Latina, etc. Designed by Zagreb architect Mirko Magdić, with interiors crafted by Goran Lelas.

2010.
Trattoria “Bodulka”

In the location of the former “Riba” restaurant, we opened “Bodulka” trattoria, which has been successfully running for a full 10 years, until 2020.

2010.
Bakery “Kruh”

We opened a bakery in Selce, and in 2012, two more, one in Crikvenica and another in Novi Vinodolski. We make bread according to old traditional recipes, exclusively by hand and without any additives.

2011.
Restaurant “Kruh i vino”

A restaurant with a beautiful view and a location by the sea, which proved to be very popular from the start and continues to run successfully to this day.

2013.
Taverna “Filumena”

A tavern with a diverse menu offering a wide range of grilled specialties prepared on charcoal.

2017.
Burger bar “OX”

A superbly designed burger bar in the center of Crikvenica, offering fast food specialties.

2021.
Bar “Dock bar”

Opened in Selce, right on the promenade, offering a rich and varied selection of drinks as well as multiple types of cocktails in a pleasant atmosphere with entertaining music.

Cooking, to me, is an art form that I’ve devoted myself to for the past 15 years. Every ingredient, every flavor, every dish is a canvas on which I can express my passion and love for gastronomy. I am extremely fortunate to have had the opportunity to work for 8 years in a team that, like me, values authenticity and quality, as well as the diversity of cuisines, relying on local, fresh ingredients. In this way, together, we strive to discover the best ingredients and combinations that will astonish all our guests, both new and those who have already placed their trust in us.

Faro Restaurant & Lounge Bar is located in Dramalj right on the seafront. The main gastronomic offerings of FARO are served on an attractive terrace with three different ambiances and a beautifully designed atrium.
